Situated on the upper deck of a 19th century boat at Town Bridge in Peterborough, East serves a dazzling array of oriental food from Malaysia, Korea, Thailand, China and Japan.
On our last visit we started with a dish wonderfully entitled ‘Heavenly Beef’ – slices of beef marinated in palm sugar and coriander seeds, shallow fried and served with a piquant chilli sauce. Heavenly it was, too!
Our main course as recommended by the staff was ‘Sambal Pork Belly’. Deep-fried pork belly with a Malaysian Sambal sauce, chopped fine beans, chilli and kaffir lime leaves. This one really got our taste buds tingling! The perfectly made coconut rice made the perfect accompaniment. To round off the meal we enjoyed banana fritters with ice cream and butterscotch sauce.
There is a good wine list and some local Oakham Ales to go with your food, too.
