Fosse Meadows are proud to have been awarded Great Taste Award stars for a number of their ethically produced products including Fosse 81-day free-range chicken, 24-week free-range turkey, free-range duck, picnic pie and chicken bone broth.
These add to the existing, extremely rare, three gold stars in the Great Taste Awards 2019 for their slow-grown, free-range cockerel. The farm was also shortlisted for Best Food Producer in Great Food Club’s 2019 Awards.
Founders Nick and Jacob specialise in free-range chickens, slow grown for at least 81 days, and 100+day-old cockerels, which run free on their farm in south Leicestershire. They produce slow grown free-range, bronze turkeys, geese and ducks for Christmas.
Fosse’s French-breed chickens and cockerels are fed an additive and antibiotic-free diet, with access to pesticide-free green pastures and hedgerows. A Fosse bird has larger legs because it runs about outside for much longer.
The Great Taste Awards judge commented on their cockerel: “The meat is exceptional and full of flavour. The texture is perfect. It’s moist and juicy. Lovely thick skin which cooked beautifully and produced crispy and flavoursome morsels…Absolutely fantastic!”
Fosse Meadows has won a Good Housekeeping Award and in 2019 was placed seventh in the Observer Food Monthly Top 50.
