Barrowden & Wakerley Community Shop
Barrowden & Wakerley Community Shop opened in 2009 and today offers a good selection of locally sourced food and drink, plus a café. The shop is non-profit making and strives to keep its products competitively priced.
Based in picturesque Barrowden, it is manned by a friendly team of volunteers and led by manager David Lewis. Local products on its shelves include Barrowden honey, Kings Cliffe Bakery bread, Grasmere Farm sausages, meat from Nelsons butchers of Stamford, and award-winning frozen ready meals from Clarke’s of Queniborough.
Artisan cheeses are supplied by Stamford Cheese Cellar and include Cropwell Bishop Stilton, Black Bomber and Godminster. The shop also arranges weekly deliveries of fresh fish from Pinney’s Suffolk Smokery, including salmon steaks, kippers and smoked haddock fillets.
Premium products such as Meah’s authentic Indian sauces and Langley Farm yogurts are always in stock, and fresh fruit and veg are delivered weekly. Carefully chosen wines and beers are sold, too.
The attached coffee shop provides a nice environment for tea, coffee and to indulge in a slice of locally made cake. You can also get lunch here in the form of soup or fresh sandwiches. Free wi-fi is available.
It’s not just the food and drink that makes Barrowden & Wakerley Community Shop such a great place. You can also drop off your dry-cleaning, post your letters and parcels, buy local art and pick up beautiful flowers.
Spend £10 in the shop and get a free regular tea or coffee for you and a friend. Please show your card at the till.
