From the minute you step into Ben’s Restaurant you will feel like you are in for a treat. You will be greeted by quirky, contemporary décor, giant cow prints on the walls and more often than not, Ben himself.
The restaurant prides itself on using high quality ingredients from Suffolk producers and suppliers. Ben’s family’s own smallholding raise and supply most of the pork and some of the lamb on the menu, and in fact almost everything on your plate (and indeed in your glass) is locally sourced – from the Halesworth guinea fowl to the Rattlesden eggs to the Giffords Hall wine. The passion for reducing food miles from supply chain to plate is clear to see.
Ben’s Restaurant is a meat lover’s paradise but vegetarians need not be concerned – there are plenty of imaginative meat-free options and a large percentage of the menu is reassuringly gluten free.
If you like to know the origins, lifestyle and quality of your food when you eat out, and you are after a relaxing ambience with an unusual menu, Ben’s in Bury St Edmunds is a must-visit.
