The Blue Barbakan
The Barbakan has been for many years York’s very own Polish restaurant. It was situated on Fossgate – that historical and famous foodie street in York. But in 2020 it moved further along the street and is now in new premises complete with a rustic interior and a new name – The Blue Barbakan.
From homemade dumplings with a number of fillings to choose from to inventive sandwiches made with freshly baked bread, The Blue Barbakan treats guests to carefully selected recipes plucked straight from Polish kitchens, providing a memorable experience and unique flavours to try.
Highlights of the main menu include tender braised beef cheek served in a rich plum sauce and paired with buttery mashed potato and seasonal vegetables, while the Hungarian potato pancakes are equally delicious.
This family-run and family-friendly gem is becoming increasingly popular for those looking for something different, so make sure you add it to your must-visit list. A gem!
