Brayton Farm Shop
I just love to find a food shop where almost everything sold has a close relationship to Yorkshire. This farm shop and cafe is all about locally sourced, high-quality ingredients, and while it’s not technically based on a farm, it is supplied by hundreds of farmers and producers. Instead it is set down a quiet country lane, with plenty of parking, and shopping baskets galore.
A treasure trove of food greets you when you walk inside. The produce is laid out in a spacious, calm, welcoming ambience. No rows to navigate or unnecessary advertising here. Brayton Farm Shop stocks a range of meat, dairy products, fruit and veg as well as artisan beers, wines and spirits. Virtually everything sold in store is from Yorkshire: from beef to buffalo, cheese to chorizo, lemongrass to lemon tart ice cream. There is also a deli, and sausage rolls, steak pies and pork pies are baked on-site daily.
This shop also has its own on-site butchers, selling beef from Barkston Ash, lamb and pork from Wood’s O’Cot Farm and poultry from Peck Farm, South Milford.
Rows of beers include a selection from Bradfield Brewery of Sheffield, Rudgate Brewery based in the Vale of York, plus the famous Sloemotion gin.
There is a smart café with an enclosed outdoor seating area offering freshly made sandwiches, jacket potatoes and homemade cakes, all served with a smile.
Brayton Farm Shop is a fine family run fixture in the heart of the Brayton community. Encouraging you to pop in to get the freshest produce, their opening hours are pretty good for a local store: an impressive seven days a week from 9am until 5pm. I suggest you pop along to this one-stop Yorkshire shop when in the Selby area.
