With the growth of the large pizza and pasta chains, it’s become increasingly difficult to find good traditional independent Mediterranean restaurants, so Café Bencotto was a nice surprise nestled in the centre of the seaside town of Felixstowe. As a big pizza fan, the delicious stone-baked pizza (cooked to order in the restaurant’s open kitchen) was even more of a delight, and very reasonably priced.
Café Bencotto is open every day from 9am (10am Sundays). The menu is based on pizza and pasta, complemented by dishes from around the Mediterranean, with daily specials from the likes of North Africa, Greece and Spain as well as Italy. The platters and small plates are great for sharing in true Mediterranean style.
The relaxed environment of Café Bencotto makes it a perfect place for meeting friends, even if it’s just for a drink at the bar or al fresco in the heated courtyard (the cocktail menu looked inviting!) ‘Breakfast at Benny’s’ is also on offer.
Café Bencotto is part of Yeo Group, a group of individual venues in Felixstowe that includes The Alex and The View Point Cafe.
