Cafe Portico is a top-class, fully-licensed cafe in the centre of Lincoln, located on the ground floor of The Terrace complex – a group of offices rented by creative businesses. Comfortable, arty and sophisticated, and hosting regular jazz nights, it’s a great place to relax: grab one of the lazy armchairs, order a coffee and read the newspaper/iPad while building up the energy to tackle Lincoln’s Steep Hill. But don’t be surprised if you linger longer than expected…
The food at Cafe Portico, made by owner and head chef Sim Bellandini, is worth making a beeline for. There’s always a fine range of homemade cakes to go with your tea or coffee but you’ll also find some excellent breakfast options and brilliant lunchtime mains, such as the Redhill Farm pork sandwich (we almost ordered two it was that good), plus an enticing range of salads. A recent Guardian review described a Cafe Portico salad as “a healthy hillock of adventure, its 12 components ranging from oats to shredded fennel… and for £6.50, it was phenomenal”. On music nights there’s a set menu.
A free coffee with any sandwich, pasta or salad. To claim the offer, please show your membership card when ordering.
