Tucked away down Melton Mowbray’s most charming street, near St Mary’s Church, sits not a pork pie seller or Stilton shop, but an Italian café that becomes an evening bistro from 6pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
Caffe Italia is one of Melton’s most delicious destinations.
The cafe is compact – accompanying your conversation with Italian-style hand gestures may result in homemade soup going over one of the attentive waiters – but Caffe Italia is charming rather than cramped, and exudes the pleasant feel of a European café. A counter displaying delicious cakes gives you the come-on, and cooking aromas rise from the basement kitchen. The sandwiches are good, the coffee excellent.
Caffe Italia is a delightful venue offering good, unpretentious food.
