Cheese at Leadenhall Market
You’ll find ‘Cheese’ in Leadenhall Market in the City of London – a beautiful covered Victorian market with an ornate painted roof (used as Diagon Alley in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone).
This deli-restaurant-bar serves lunches from 12-3pm and drinks from 11-8pm. Sue Cloke – aka ‘The Duchess of Cheese’ – runs the show, and she’s a regular judge at the British and World Cheese Awards. She and her knowledgeable team dispense high-quality cheese and wine each weekday to the denizens of the City.
Go beyond the cheese and charcuterie and you’ll find delights such as Croque Monsieur, Croque Madame and the Plat du Jour. The latter could be a leek and Stilton quiche with a potato salad, or roast chicken leg, white beans, chorizo and chard. You can also choose from the tapas selection, which includes the likes of Padron peppers, anchovies on toast and chorizo. One of our favourites is the fondue – made with Gruyère, Emmental and Schlossberger.
We visit Cheese as often as we can on our London trips. We adore it.
