The Dispensary is a pub and dining room in the City of London. It stands out from the crowd for its first-rate food and ever-changing real ales. There is also a fine selection of wines and spirits to choose from.
You’re sure to get a warm welcome from owners David Cambridge and his partner Annie in this glorious listed building, which was was once the Eastern Dispensary Hospital. It was built in 1859 and is now converted into this stylish pub and restaurant.
David trained as a chef with Rothschild & Co, cooking in their City dining room and later at private parties in the family’s country houses and international estates. Quality and provenance is of key importance and he sources his produce daily from nearby Smithfield and Billingsgate markets.
On our last visit we ate breaded pork medallions and creamy leek gnocchi, washed down with a pint or two of Partridge Best Bitter by Dark Star Ales.
This is now a go-to destination whenever we are in town!
