Wade Smith and Megan Scaddan started making and selling their doughnuts in early 2015 to make some extra cash for their upcoming holiday. They got to work in Megan’s mum’s kitchen with a £10 wok and the rest is history. Six months later they set up a micro-bakery and were supplying various eateries around Nottingham. Next they opened the first Doughnotts shop in central Nottingham. The Derby branch on Sadler Gate followed in August 2017.
Each day at Doughnotts you can choose from around 18 different flavours including several vegan options. Varieties include Red Velvet, Salted Caramel, Death by Chocolate, Snickers and Kinder Bueno. Upstairs is a shabby-chic seating area, perfect for relaxing with a tasty ‘Doughnott’ and a freshly brewed cup of 200 Degrees coffee.
What’s great about Doughnotts is how passionate and involved Wade and Megan are in the business. You’ll probably see them hard at work in the shop chatting to customers, which gives the place a personal touch you don’t tend to get at the huge doughnut chains.
