Embe in Peterborough serves Afro-Caribbean food. Chef-patron Nick Rutta’s passion for cooking came from his mother, and that shines through in Embe’s menu, which features several traditional family recipes from his native Tanzania.
We stopped by for lunch, enjoying a bowl of Afro Chicken Stew with Rice ‘n’ Peas. It was perfect, with moist chicken giving way to gently warming spices. Embe’s most popular dish is curried goat marinated with tropical spices and simmered in a tasty sauce with potatoes and carrots. The Jambalaya is also worth trying.
Vegans and vegetarians are catered for with vegetable version of Jambalaya. Or how about a Calypso Salad featuring spinach, mushrooms, cashew nuts, fried plantain and Embe’s mango sauce?
