Family-owned Leicestershire brewer Everards has been brewing beer since 1849 and now owns over 170 pubs across the Midlands. Synonymous with all things Leicester and Leicestershire, its brewery is next to Fosse Park, Leicester, situated on a 134 acre site. Here it produces what is probably its best-known beer, Tiger Copper Ale – official ale of the Leicester Tigers – which was first brewed in 1972.
Everards aims to support any viable business plan whether it is a butcher’s, baker’s, or small brewers in buying unloved local pubs or buildings and working with these independent people to transform them into bustling businesses and brewery taps. For example, they worked with the team behind Crafty Burger to rejuvenate The King Richard III in Leicester. And they partnered Beautiful Pubs to breathe new life into what is now called the Knight & Garter, another Leicester pub. This ethos is summed up in Everards’ award-winning Project William scheme.
Today, Everards continue to look to provide exciting ways to regenerate pubs and turn them into spaces more relevant to today’s market.
