Exeter Arms

The Exeter Arms at Easton on the Hill is a nicely restored pub offering local ales and locally sourced food.

On tap is a selection of local beers and the menus are extensive, with the pub’s signature dishes comprising many on-the-doorstep ingredients, such as Rutland Charcuterie meats and game from local shoots.

Inside The Exeter Arms, the feel is one of good old fashioned laid-back comfort, with some well-thought-out design touches that lift the pub well. The cosy bar area is traditional and rustic, and adjacent is a spacious and pleasant restaurant that combines antique tables, chairs and church pews with an up-to-date feel.

To the rear is an Orangery – a bright and airy conservatory leading to a patio that provides extra dining space.

This is a good place for walkers – there are some great routes nearby.

Heard that there were new owners so went to give it a try. Looked on the website and saw that they were doing “Lunch for Less” in January and February.
When we got there we were told that this wasn’t so. They hadn’t updated the website as they had only recently taken over.
We had a main course each – steak pie and fish and chips. Food was mediocre nothing outstanding and disappointed by their response to “Lunch for Less”.
The Exeter Arms is a lovely pub/restaurant and very local to us so we were very disappointed.
Hope that it improves and that they soon realise that updating the website is a priority!

A lovely lunchtime venue, friendly staff, good choice of lighter lunch options, the cray fish and crab salad was superb. Very accommodating making adaptations to a meal choice made by my friend’s daughter. And rounded off by an amazing ice cream sharing platter by the chef that blew us away.

    Enjoyable evening drink there recently.

I’ve been here a couple of times with friends and both times we’ve booked the conservatory as we’ve been laden with various kids. The staff were extremely accommodating despite toddlers making unreasonable demands!

Food lovely, beer very well kept. I’d like to go back with just a group of adults to enjoy it more!
