Farm Bistro & Bakery
Harrogate is a treasure trove of independent delights – they keep popping up in unexpected locations. Farm Bistro & Bakery is located up the stairs above its own bread bakery, in the centre of Harrogate. Owner Vanora Pearson and family hail from North Yorkshire, and have used their childhood memories of growing up on a farm to inform both in the interior design and the food, creating a nostalgic feeling of warmth, well-being and security alongside simple, tasty, homely cooking.
Upstairs is bright and airy with a quirky yet homely décor. At lunchtimes the place is abuzz with chatter and we did have to wait a little for a table for two. The staff were friendly and smiley – a winning combination.
The menus range from breakfast to lunch to evening (the latter coming into play on Thursday to Saturday nights). The homemade sourdough bread features prominently, but there’s a wide selection of dishes on offer including hearty pies, salads, all-day breakfast, steak frites, and fish and chips. The drinks menu includes locally brewed craft beers, wines and fizz, plus a good selection of loose-leaf teas.
Expect a lovely selection of homemade cakes to tempt you too, gluten-free included.
