Gallipoli Café & Bistro
Part of Upper Street’s acclaimed collection of restaurants, Gallipoli – founded in 1996 – has deservedly earned recognition as one of London’s most authentic Turkish eateries.
Distinctively decorated with Ottoman-inspired artefacts and prints, this lively little restaurant is known not only for its food but for its vibrant, friendly atmosphere.
With a generous menu of Turkish and Mediterranean favourites, dishes include everything from delectable mezze to fresh seafood and mouthwatering meat grills. To name a few, the smoked aubergine Baba Ganoush, Iskender Lamb and marinated king prawns are all moreish options for mopping up with a basket of homemade pitta.
The wine selection is pleasantly affordable, showcasing some of Turkey’s own reds and whites, as well as firm favourites such as Hunter’s Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc and a very reasonable bottle of Famatina Valley Malbec.
An established part of Islington’s thriving restaurant scene, Gallipoli’s approach to eating out has made it a popular and reliable choice for any occasion. So much so, it has opened a sister restaurant Gallipoli Again, which shares all of Gallipolli’s great food, admirable ethos and generous service only a few doors down.
