I try to exercise restraint with that somewhat teenage hyperbole when talking about food. The oh-my-God how am-AZING so-and-so’s food is, the breath-taking, mind-blowing, absolutely in-CREDIBLE menu at whatsitcalled…
But Globe’s food is out of this world.
And I tried almost everything on the menu. A group of us went tapas-style and ordered all of the Global Inspired Small Plates — and took great pleasure in being able to say, “we’ll take one of everything, please.”
True to its name, the menu took us on a culinary journey around the globe: Bombay potato croquettes with sriracha mayonnaise; zucchini fritters with beetroot hummus, zucchini salsa and micro coriander; miso-marinated tempura squid with wasabi tartar, fresh lime and watercress…
Vietnamese beef skewers with Asian slaw, sesame seeds and coriander; chilli and sage roasted butternut squash with feta and seeds; sumac-braised pork belly with honey yoghurt, sriracha and chilli sauce… PHEW!
Each plate was like a little present. Dishes were complex yet delicate. The plates balanced heat, spice and zest with mellow, fresh and cool, their flavours complementing each other perfectly.
And if you’re looking to go large, there’s an ever-changing Big Plates menu too, with such delights as the Indonesian chicken rendang burger, Sri Lankan tiger prawn curry, and pan-seared harissa halloumi. Like, OMG.
