Gourmet Spice Co was born in a Northamptonshire kitchen by obsessive foodie, Mark Hughes. Tired of a corporate life, Mark stepped away from the office in 2011 and hasn’t looked back.
In 2014 he expanded into a purpose-built commercial unit yet everything is still made by hand in small batches to unique recipes. All the rubs are low or no salt and almost all contain zero sugar. With no fillers, they’re gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan too. Gourmet Spice Co only sells real balsamic vinegars that are naturally sweet and thick. Mark doesn’t add a grain of sugar to those either.
This producer has won the Lux Global Excellence award for Best Handmade Spices & Condiments Retailer (UK), and achieved highly in a string of other awards including the Great Taste Awards, Carlsberg Northamptonshire Food & Drink Awards, and Nectar Small Business Awards. It was even named as one of iNet’s Most Innovative Food Companies for two years running.
