Guist General Store & Café
Guist General Store & Café is a little gem and not at all what you would expect to find tucked inside a quaint village post office. Owner Duncan Pearson has established a wonderful space, serving freshly prepared treats and goodies. The café-bistro is a new addition to a historic building and as such it has been styled in a way that bridges old and new.
Duncan is a firm believer in supporting other local businesses and is keen to provide visitors with a taste of Norfolk. Perfick Pork in Great Ryburgh provides the meat, vegetables come from Banyards Farm in Dereham and bread from Clarks Bakery, also in Dereham.
All cakes and meals are homemade and cooked freshly on-site to ensure all food served is fresh and tasty. We’d recommended this place at any time of day but we’d like to give an extra shout out for the cooked breakfasts: freshly prepared – the best-cooked breakfast for miles around.
The café-bistro is well supported by locals and because of its growing reputation attracts holidaying visitors from far and wide too. The café-bistro works within the opening hours of the shops for takeaway items, with the seating area open slightly different hours: Monday–Saturday 9.30am–4.30pm and Sunday 9.30am–2pm.
