Hartwell’s and Towbury Court Fine Foods
The first Hartwell’s Butcher’s Shop – previously known as Elliott’s – was opened over 100 years ago.
The owners run a farm near Kislingbury where they raise traditional native breeds of cattle and sheep on old pastureland. They also produce a wide variety of sausages, burgers and their own dry-cured bacon.
Hartwell’s Butcher’s is excellent. We would also highly recommend the adjoining deli, Towbury Court Fine Foods, which you access down the alley to the right of the butcher’s shop. It sells a wide range of food including award-winning pies, cheeses (including the locally made Cobblers Nibble) handmade ready-meals, scotch eggs, quiches, cold meats and desserts.
On our visit we chose a pork, apple and black pudding scotch egg for lunch and a chicken pie to cook for dinner that evening. Divine!
Fantastic produce combined with friendly, knowledgeable staff make Hartwell’s and Towbury Court great places for in-the-know foodies.
