HIDE Burger Bar
HIDE Burger Bar in Derby is a master of its art. Its burgers are excellent – some of the best we’ve tried.
The menu is sharp and straightforward. Choose between the ‘Classic’ (6oz beef patty, red onion, homemade pickles, Holy Cow ketchup, Smoky Moo mayo and iceberg lettuce in a perfect brioche bun); the ‘Chilli’ and the ‘Smoky’. Or maybe you’d prefer a chicken burger (buttermilk fried or marinated breast), a vegetarian option (halloumi) or one of two vegan burgers (pakora and BBQ jackfruit). Gluten-free buns are available, plus an interesting range of craft beers.
The burgers are so good thanks to the care the HIDE team put into them. They form their patties from freshly ground Derbyshire beef, using chuck steak. They say: “We appreciate at first bite the melt-in-the-mouth beef, the cut, the age and the grind of the meat, the flat-top grill-cooking method that achieves that well-rested medium-rare burger. It’s about the correct characteristics of the bun, the flavoursome twang of the relish on the burger, the perfectly melted cheese, the intense smoky flavour of the bacon, the freshness of salad ingredients and the crunch of the homemade pickle.”
If you’re into burgers and in Derby, head to HIDE.
