Hillers Farm Shop
Hillers is a large and well established farm shop with an enviable location close to Ragley Hall Estate. That close relationship with Ragley means Hillers has one of the best (and lowest-food-mile) butchery counters in the region, stocking meat reared on the estate’s Red Tractor-assured farms. So you’ll find ultra-local beef, lamb and pork, faggots, sausages, burgers, dry-cured bacon and free-range chicken. There’s also plenty of fresh game and venison when in season.
But the butchery section is just a small part of Hillers: this farm shop at the centre of 60-acre Dunnington Heath Farm has been around for more than 80 years, so has had ample time to grow and perfect its trade. Many of the fresh fruit and vegetables on sale are grown on the farm, while several local growers – such as Derek Wilkinson two miles away in Salford Priors (asparagus) and the Hollis family in Dunnington (salad leaves) – deliver daily.
Meanwhile, Hillers’ own kitchen team cooks a nice range of savoury and sweet items including quiches, Scotch eggs, fish cakes, fruit pies and crumble; and the cheese counter showcases more than 100 cheeses. To round it off, there’s even a fish section managed by fourth-generation fishmongers specialising in Cornish fish caught by small, one day trip boats.
Just a few yards from the farm shop is a restaurant, a gifts and interiors shop and display gardens.
