Ristorante Il Piccolo Mondo
Situated six miles east of Cambridge in the village of Bottisham, this smart restaurant serving authentic Italian dishes draws diners from across the region, including Newmarket’s horse-racing fraternity (the equine-infused market town is just seven miles away). The restaurant is housed in a 200-year-old former school and has a friendly, warm and welcoming feel.
The atmosphere is mainly down to owners Polly (restaurant manager) and Elio (head chef), who are both passionate about Italian cuisine. Pasta is prepared daily and fresh seafood is delivered each day. Their signature dish of homemade spaghetti and fresh lobster is a real favourite, although less glamorous creations such as pasta twists with homemade veal-and-cured-ham meatballs in rich tomato sauce also hit the mark with quality and flavour.
On weekdays, Il Piccolo Mondo offers a set lunch of two courses for £15.50 or three courses for £18.50 (prices correct at the time of writing). The extensive wine list focuses on Italian vineyards and should please all pockets.
If you are looking for first-class, tasty Italian food prepared using high quality ingredients then this is the place for you!
