JB Kitchen
JB Kitchen was founded as a food-delivery service in 2020 during lockdown. Through hard work and passion, it grew, and now it’s become a bricks-and-mortar restaurant in Birstall, Leicestershire, and our Food Hero of the Year 2020/21. Our Food Hero category exists to celebrate food & drink independents that have achieved something special, and JB Kitchen, founded by chef Jordan Brady, certainly ticks that box.
In 2012, Jordan was homeless and sleeping rough, having left school aged 13. However, he turned his life around by becoming a chef and working hard. And never more so than during lockdown, when he launched JB Kitchen. Since then, with the support of his nearest and dearest, especially his partner Sarah, he’s cooked and delivered creative, restaurant-quality dishes to homes around the East Midlands.
This was not only a brilliant response to the pandemic but also an outstanding response to Jordan’s challenging past. And vitally, his food is of high quality – we have tried a number of dishes and enjoyed them.
