Kine in Lincoln is a delightfully designed independent burger restaurant. The short, refined menu also features a good selection of small dishes, while Sunday’s all-day brunch list provides plenty of temptation, too.
It sits just off the beaten track in Lincoln city centre sporting simple, tasteful decor – including some excellent locally produced artwork – and a laid-back vibe. Founder Jason Castle has built Kine in his image and done a fabulous job, bringing something new and desirable to the city.
Burgers include the Kine Special (aged Lincolnshire beef, candied streaky bacon, Kaltbach Swiss cheese, topped with spring onions, sweet potato crisps and chive mayo, served with rosemary salt or spiced fries); and the Thai Black Bean Burger (Thai-inspired black bean burger topped with crispy pickled vegetables and satay mayo). Kine sources beef from Meridian Meats of Louth, which rears its own Longhorn cattle in Tetford, Lincs. “It took me a year of searching to find the right butcher,” says Jason. “Them having their own cattle makes a huge difference.” Burger buns come from Vine Bakery and cheese from The Cheese Society – two Lincoln-based businesses.
Kine’s small dishes feature the likes of beetroot & Ticklemore goats’ cheese croquettes on a Salmorejo sauce; and Korean BBQ fried chicken with cabbage pickle and garlic yoghurt.
This street-food inspired venue is straightforward but effective and run with passion. The service is top notch, too.
Check Kine’s website for opening hours.
