Kings Cliffe Bakery, Kings Cliffe
King’s Cliffe Bakery HQ and café in King’s Cliffe village is easily missed from the road, with a simple Hovis sign and opening times the only indication that it exists. But beyond the door there is a thriving bakery with more than 200 years of history.
The bakery produces top quality bread and cakes to traditional recipes and all of it is made by hand, six days a week, by the skilled bakery team. You’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to choosing a loaf – old fashioned fluted, multiseed, wholemeal, malt-crunch, sunflower or pumpkin loaves are all on offer. And the cake line up is impressive too – we love the aptly-named Paradise Slices! There’s also traditional Eccles cakes and a range of buns, as well as seasonal offerings such as hot cross buns and mince pies. But you’ll need to be quick because (you guessed it) these baked goods sell out like hot cakes.
If you are near King’s Cliffe village, King’s Cliffe Bakery is well worth a detour and the cafe which is open Wednesday to Sunday is both cosy and friendly.
