La Parisienne

La Parisienne is a delightful café/bistro in a characterful old building in the heart of Southwell – an historic market town famed for its impressive Minster. The restaurant is friendly and quirky, decorated in a French style and complemented by heavy wooden beams and an open fireplace. La Parisienne is small and family-run, serving typical French and Mediterranean dishes. With only few tables it is advisable to book ahead.

La Parisienne offers an excellent value fixed-pice lunch or choices from the a la carte menu, with good vegetarian and gluten-free options. There’s also a nice drinks selection and some wonderful home-baked patisserie, amazing cakes and scones.

We enjoyed a relaxed lunch with friendly service that was helpful but not intrusive. I opted for the calamari starter – superb – and we enjoyed our baked brie with honey, fish tempura and penne aux champignons. Regrettably there was no room for cake, but that will certainly be something we try on our next visit.

La Parisienne is a lovely café/bistro, offering freshly cooked food in a fabulous setting, with the ambience and service you would expect from a small family restaurant. With so much to see in Southwell this is a great place to refuel as you peruse the shops and alleyways of the town centre.
