Larder Lichfield describes itself as a relaxed, honest, ingredient-led modern restaurant proudly serving quality produce with bold flavours. Based on our experience, we’d say every word is bang on. It opened its doors on Bore Street in November 2018 and has quickly become a favourite with lovers of fine dining in the city.
The seven-course tasting menu wowed us with memorable dishes like smoked beetroot, pork fat and samphire, Chinese chicken with truffle and aged soy, perfectly cooked stone bass served with onions cooked three ways, and an intriguing lemon, ginger and pine dessert. There’s also a five-course tasting menu, plus vegetarian versions of both. But, if tasting menus aren’t your thing, there are three-course dinners plus two-, three- and five-course lunches.
What we also loved about Larder was its relaxed, informal setting, in line with its philosophy of ‘all flavour, no pomp’. The customer service is efficient but friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiastic.
Book the Kitchen Table on the top floor to get a ringside seat and watch the culinary magic.
