Little Seeds Bar & Kitchen
With a menu that seeks to use the best seasonal ingredients from local suppliers, as well as produce from its own kitchen garden, Little Seeds Bar & Kitchen sits in the centre of the charming market town of Stone. Owned and run by head chef Jake Lowndes and general manager Sophie Hardman, Little Seeds describes its food as “vibrant and contemporary British”.
Open from Wednesdays to Sunday afternoons, the daytime menu comprises breakfasts and brunches, with an extended offering at weekends. Options range from the traditional but perfect ‘Full Seed’ or ‘Half Seed’, to eggs, halloumi, spinach & smashed avocado with toasted sourdough, or waffles with smoked bacon and fried eggs.
For lunch, there’s a range of open sandwiches, all on homemade focaccia, as well as sharing boards plus favourites such as beef or falafel burger or buttermilk-fried chicken. On Sundays, there’s a weekly changing menu that always includes a top-quality roast.
In the evenings, Little Seeds is a great spot for casual dining, serving up tasty, imaginative plates. Some dishes we’ve enjoyed are hake with minted pea puree, lemon confit, beer pickled onions, crispy potato and warm tartare sauce; and flat iron steak with tenderstem broccoli, broccoli puree, beef dripping potatoes, pickled mustard seeds, radish and nasturtium.
Homemade desserts are always impressive and have included liquorice panna cotta with fennel meringue and milk crumb, or pine parfait on a biscuit base with lemon curd, blueberries and honeycomb.
