Liz Moore Cooks
Our meal with Liz Moore was one of the highlights of the GFC summer. From her kitchen tucked away in the countryside outside Market Harborough, Liz produces the most incredible dishes for private clients – from shooting lunches and dinners to fine dining – using both traditional and unusual ingredients.
She is totally self taught, but her natural ability and her passion for cooking impressed chefs including Michel Roux Senior, who invited her to the kitchens of The Waterside Inn, Bray, to gain invaluable experience and insight.
Her culinary reputation is well established in her native Ireland, where she ran the esteemed Belle Isle Cookery School, frequently cooked on TV and for visiting dignitaries, including HM Queen Elizabeth. Her expertise has led to international travel and cookery, and this has given her a vast repertoire of recipes and ideas from which she takes her inspiration.
We were lucky enough to sample a three-course fine-dining menu, produced effortlessly and presented beautifully. A starter of salmon with griddled pineapple, fennel and red onion was followed by a succulent lamb cutlet served with a filo parcel of slow-cooked lamb shoulder, five spice, cinnamon and rosti potato – a truly sumptuous dish. Dessert was a mango puree encased in white chocolate cream with lime, served with a biscuit. The clever part? Presented in an eggshell, it looked exactly like a soft-boiled egg and we loved the taste and the creativity of the dish. Everything was served with style and expertise and each dish was a wonderful balance of taste and texture.
Liz will cook at your home for a one-off special occasion, or cater for regular events such as shoot lunches or dinners and board meetings. Whatever your taste, style or preference, Liz will produce dishes that live long in your memory…certainly longer than they last on your plate!
