Manor Farm Cookery School

Manor Farm Cookery School opened in 2016 in the rural heart of the beautiful Vale of Belvoir.

Many of the courses are tailored towards kitchen novices: men who usually run a mile when presented with a recipe, for example, or university students who struggle to boil an egg.

But amateurs are not the sole focus by any means. More experienced cooks will be drawn to Manor Farm’s specialist teachers who can offer advanced training in various food styles. There are also day courses for dinner-party cooking, plus fun ‘Cookery Clubs’ where a minimum of six attendees get together over five Mondays. These Cookery Club sessions comprise a brief demo followed by some hands-on prep and cooking. Recipes and ingredients are provided and you get to eat what you’ve cooked for lunch or supper.

Other courses include corporate ‘get away from the office’ sessions, and classes for kids.

Manor Farm Cookery School was founded by Diana Thompson, who trained at the Tante Marie Cookery School, the UK’s longest-established cookery school.

  1. Kim Smith says:
Great food, great fun! Both the setting and the courses themselves are wonderful. Chef, Rob, takes you slowly through recipes and allows you to gain confidence to produce amazing food. I generally felt I was a reasonable cook with the occasional disaster, but my cooking has improved dramatically whilst keeping the budget in check. Rob shows how to plan and make the best of the ingredients at hand to produce meals that you are proud to serve. The results are amazing without taking hours or costing a fortune. Diane's kitchen is a purpose-built dream. The set-up allows for clear vision and a level of collegiality that makes for enjoyable sessions. I attended the cooking club, which is five Mondays a term and missed it so much when it finished. Looking forward to heading back next month for a Christmas course!
