Miss B’s Tea Rooms
Climb the stairs to Miss B’s you’re confronted with an array cake stands displaying divine-looking sponges and scones. You’re also met by several vintage teapots, waitresses in traditional costume, and an old gramophone softly playing old tunes, all presented in a lovely space that feels rather like your Great Aunt’s front room, complete with wooden beams.
The tea room menu starts with Traditional Afternoon Tea (including a very special ‘Luxury’ version – you need to book in advance for this), and ends with an impressive Platter Selection, including plates devoted to the Melton Mowbray Pork Pie, to Blue Stilton, and to Quiche. There’s also a Taster Selection, plus toasties and jacket potatoes.
All the food is beautifully presented on vintage plates and the ingredients are of a high quality. For example, the coleslaw and quiches are homemade, while the pork pies are from award-winning Melton Mowbray bakery Dickinson and Morris.
Soaking up the traditional atmosphere is one of the pleasures of coming to Miss B’s, and it’s no surprise this tea room and bistro is one of just a handful to have been awarded a Certificate of Excellence by The Tea Guild. The Guild said Miss B’s “offered consistently high standards of tea making and customer service”. Miss B’s is also featured in the AA’s Perfect Places for Afternoon Tea.
If you’re in Melton Mowbray, you must visit Miss B’s.
