Nene Valley Spirits at Sacrewell Farm
John and Jo Morris and Leigh Taylor launched their micro-distillery last year to become the first gin producer in Peterborough and the Nene Valley area. Their business Nene Valley Spirits is based at Sacrewell Farm, where they have a neat unit in the new Artisan Courtyard.
John, Jo and Leigh have a range of gins – the first, Ermine Street is named after the Roman road connecting London and York which once ran close to where the distillery is. This gin is part of the ‘All Roads Collective’ and has a subtle and delicious lemon and rosemary flavour (the rosemary is foraged from nearby Castor). If you prefer flavoured gin liqueurs, there are currently two in the Tales from the Riverbank range – Rhubarb and Ginger Gin Liqueur and Strawberry Pink Gin Liqueur.
For something completely different, the Avo Liqueur made with avocado leaf and botanicals is a delicious after-dinner drink with its hints of aniseed.
All spirits are handcrafted and produced in small batches so you can never be sure quite what to expect next!
