Old Black Horse Inn
When we paid Mat and Bec at the Old Black Horse Inn a visit, we loved what we saw. This popular local in Houghton on the Hill, Leicestershire, has always been at the heart of the community but in September last year, it went a step further when the team opened a village shop.
The shop – known as the Shepherd’s Hut – is located in the pub and open from 9am-1pm, Wednesday to Saturday. Here you can buy local milk from Kingarth Farm Dairy, fresh fruit and veg, homemade sausage rolls, bread & cakes from Hambleton Bakery and more. Bec’s homemade brownies whizz off the shelves, so you’ll need to be quick!
Takeout meals are available (including Sunday roasts) and you can also buy recipe kits to cook at home. On top of that, Mat and Bec farm several acres of land, where they raise Jacob lambs, sheep and chickens.
Could this be the UK’s first Pub-Farm-Deli? We can’t wait to see what they do next!
