The Packhorse at Moulton
The Packhorse is a classy food pub with rooms in a quintessential Suffolk village near Newmarket. On our visit the fire was aglow and the gentle buzz of conversation filled the bar and dining room. We knew we’d found a cracker straight away.
The food lived up the atmosphere. Our dishes were beautifully cooked and presented. The pork belly from Blythburgh Free Range Pork near Halesworth was meltingly delicious and came with caramelised apple puree, radishes, Suffolk onion and wholegrain mustard mash – a fine version of this classic dish. The venison from the nearby Denham Estate was equally good. Local sourcing is important to The Packhorse – it’s good to see so many ingredients from nearby producers on the menu.
Part of the Chestnut Group – a small East Anglian family of pubs and inns – professionalism abounds at The Packhorse. You’ll be well looked after. “Classy” is the right word.
