The Paper Mills
The Paper Mills enhances the attractive Cambridgeshire village of Wansford, nine miles west of Peterborough, where head chef Marcel Acostoaie is wowing the locals with his food!
Marcel left his native Romania in 2015, having gained his passion for cooking from his uncle, a respected chef. There followed stints on cruise ships in the Caribbean and several respected restaurants, including 195 Piccadilly with Anton Manganaro, and Carberry Tower in Edinburgh.
Sourcing local ingredients whenever possible and working with the seasons, Marcel delivers simple, fresh and tasty plates of food via a regularly-changing menu. On our lunchtime visit, we loved the tasty hot black pudding sausage and apple roll with homemade piccalilli. Next came a perfectly cooked bowl of mussels in a rich wine and herb sauce, accompanied by garlic bread and fries.
It was a delightful meal served in a handsome, impressive pub. No surprise that The Paper Mills was a finalist in the SME National Awards 2019 in the Best Pub category.
