Purity Brewing Co
Purity Brewing Co was shortlisted in the Great Food Club Awards 2015. Founded in 2005 and based on a working farm, the brewery has made a name for itself for producing innovative beers of consistently high quality. These include flagship brews Pure Gold, Saddle Black, Mad Goose, Longhorn IPA, Lawless Lager and Pure UBU, the latter two of which have won World Beer Awards.
In 2015, Purity was named Sustainable Manufacturer of the Year at the ‘Made in the UK’ Awards. The award recognised the “company that has shown the greatest commitment to forging a low-carbon manufacturing future, and made the greatest commitment to reducing manufacturing impact on the environment”.
Purity uses a unique wetland system where waste water is filtered and returned clean to the local river. While many brewers use five pints of water for every pint brewed, Purity uses three. A new brewing system, installed in 2013, has also allowed Purity to increase the yield derived from its raw brewing ingredients. Heat exchange and steam capture technologies have been introduced, too.
Purity MD Paul Halsey says: “We strive daily to further improve our sustainability measures, always with beer quality and love for the craft at the forefront of our minds. To win this national award makes us very proud.”
Purity Brewing Co has close links to PureCraft Bar & Kitchen in Birmingham.
