Sanctua in Oadby is an oasis of tranquillity and a temple to vegetables. Bindu Patel launched her restaurant after seeing the excess and waste in the Michelin-starred venues she worked at in London. Therefore she wanted her first venture back home in Leicestershire to be simple and sustainable. Hence the food is completely plant-based and there is just one set menu of three courses and an amuse bouche.
Changing every week, the menu tends to be themed around Bindu’s diverse cultural influences, which include Gujarat, Malaysia and Africa. Expect robust spicing and dishes that range from delicate canapés to fiery stews. The restaurant room features birdsong recorded by the chef, air-purifying plants and wildlife art. It exudes an air of calm and peace.
Sanctua is an obvious choice for vegans, but this is fine cooking that can be enjoyed by all.
