Seed Chocolate is one of only a handful of micro-batch bean-to-bar chocolate makers in the UK. Founded by former chef James Walter, he creates unique, award-winning chocolate from scratch in Longton, Stoke-on-Trent.
Within 18 months of launch, James’s chocolate had won awards from the Academy of Chocolate, plus Great Taste golden stars from the Guild of Fine Food. Seed Chocolate was also named Specialist Food & Drink Retailer of the Year at the 2018 Taste of Staffordshire Good Food Awards. Try some of their chocolate for yourself, and you’ll see why.
James can influence the final product at every stage of the process. Selecting the cacao beans, harnessing their individual characteristics, is the first stage. He imports directly from family farms and co-operatives. Doing this ensures that farmers receive the best possible price while also giving them a say in how their product is treated. James focuses on beans from Guatemala and Peru but plans to extend sourcing to Vietnam, Haiti and Mexico.
Seed Chocolate bars range from 100% stoneground cacao to creamy Dark Milk, to Toasted White, and Coconut White & Vanilla. There is something for every chocolate connoisseur, and all but one of the range is vegan. The cacao butter and unrefined cane sugar are organic.
