Thaymar Ice Cream

If you fancy a day out in beautiful rural north Nottinghamshire, you might like to treat yourself to a spot of lunch and some truly fabulous ice cream. The Cheetham family started making ice cream at Haughton Park Farm in 1988, using top quality local ingredients, they now make over 30 flavours of ice cream and sorbet, from Gaelic coffee, to Turkish delight, elderflower & gooseberry and strawberries and cream.

Haughton Park Farm also has a lovely, bustling tearoom with a wide selection of home-cooked main dishes, soups, and daily specials prepared in the Old Dairy Kitchen using local produce including their own lamb and beef alongside traditional sandwiches, baguettes and ciabatta. You can even order a Thaymar cream tea.

On our visit we enjoyed a delicious chunky Scotch broth and cream of mushroom soup served with fresh warm bread and proper butter!). Naturally we left room for four generous scoops of ice cream, choosing the “build your own dessert” option: chunky chocolate, toffee fudge, apple and cinnamon (stand-out superb) and honeycomb caramel ripple. Ice creams are available to eat in the tearoom or to take home, and there is some outside seating on the decking.

The farm shop is stocked with specialist cheeses, Redhill Farm sausages and bacon, Inverawe smoked salmon and a selection of pickles, jams, cakes and biscuits. You can also order their home-reared lamb and shorthorn beef. Best of all, the freezers are stocked with rows and rows of their delicious ice cream.
