The Bristol Food Tour

Being such a foodie city, it’s no surprise that Bristol finally has its own walking food tour. Run by friends Alice and Jo, The Bristol Food Tour is growing rapidly in popularity and their culinary adventures often sell out in advance.

The various tours give you the chance to see Bristol in a new way and explore everything its thriving indie food scene has to offer. They cover different areas of the city which are suitable for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans, and they can easily accommodate any food allergies or intolerances.

Numbers present on each tour are small enough to make you feel involved and you’ll get to sample some great food along the way. On top of this, Alice and Jo have lots of insider info about the foodie venues, and fun historical stories and facts about the areas visited along the way.

Tours are conducted on foot and last around three hours. To check out upcoming dates and find out more, check out their Facebook page.

I’ve lived in Bristol for a few years and love to try new places to eat so I thought I’d know all of the places the food tour could possibly take me. I was wrong! It was a lovely afternoon with lots of delicious surprises, and a really nice atmosphere amongst the group. I left absolutely stuffed and with a long list of places to visit again. Go hungry!

  2. Avatar Jo says:

Such a lovely afternoon sampling some of Bristol’s finest local eateries in Stokes Croft. Found so many lovely new places to visit and really enjoyed the hosts’ knowledgable and entertaining commentary. Would love to do another tour soon and would recommend this to anyone living in Bristol or visiting!

  3. Avatar Hannah says:

This tour was fantastic. We visited so many different independent places and got to try so much scrummy food. I would highly recommend this to anyone that is in the Bristol area. I’d love to come back and do a private tour soon 🙂

I can’t say enough wonderful things about The Bristol Food Tour. Jo and Alice are so warm and knowledgeable. Accommodating to my friends allergy so she didn’t miss out on the treats. A fantastic day visiting great food spots, carefully sourced. A brilliant day for someone visiting Bristol or just wanting to find a new favourite food spot!

I went on one of tBFT’s first tours and it was a really fun afternoon out. We got to discover a variety of different independents and tasted lots of amazing food. Definitely arrive hungry!

  7. Avatar Alex says:

The tour was amazing and took us to so many places I wouldn’t have considered otherwise. Alice knew loads about the food and businesses that we went to and made the whole tour really enjoyable and flow really well. I’m looking forward to going back to the places we went to, to try out more of their stuff now.

Went on this tour a few months ago. What an experience! I’d never visited Bristol before and I’d never been on a food tour; given my love for food and travel it seemed like the perfect thing to do! They offer normal tours, veggie and vegan ones so everyone is catered for!

It was so much fun, I learned lots about the city from my guide, Alice. She was great: friendly and informative, and of course knew all the best local, independent places to get great food! The tour takes you round multiple restaurants, cafes and street vendors – which change frequently. Not only this, but Alice handed out treats along the way from a local chocolatier and baker!

I can eat a lot of food, so I was impressed with the size of portions we got at each stop – way more than just a nibble! Definitely great value for money and a unique activity for anyone who loves great quality food. Highly recommend

We signed on to this on the recommendation of a work colleague, and this was a a fantastic few hours. The our guide was really knowledgeable and interesting. We went to places i as a local hadn’t been to before and by the end we were stuffed. Well worth it.

  10. Avatar Rosie says:

I attended the tour in December, so we had some lovely festive treats from Alice. I loved it so much and am going back for more this Saturday! Alice was friendly and had lots of interesting things to say about all of the places we visited. She told us to go easy on the munching and I was full by stop 2! Discovered some great new places and met some lovely people. Absolutely recommend to all!

A group of 8 of us enjoyed the Stokes Croft Bristol food tour a few weeks ago and it was such a brilliant day out!
Having lived in Bristol a long time and some tourers being native to Bristol, we were a little concerned that we’d have seen it all before but couldn’t have been more wrong!
From the initial booking they were so helpful, answering all of our questions and accommodating our needs.
Alice our tour guide was amazing, really knowledgable and interesting without ever being over bearing, she judged and fitted in with our group really well and it felt like having a ninth (clever foodie) friend with us!
We ate in 6 different locations around stokes croft and the centre, most of which none of us even knew about (& places we’ve since already returned) with a further 3 on the go foodie treats thrown in, so got to enjoy the delights of 9 different independent eateries and learn about them too! Everything was delicious and catered for various needs of the group (gluten free/vegetarian) and we were all really full by the end!
We had a really brilliant time, and would recommend to anyone, it’s great value for money and we are now looking forward to organising to go on the Southville one next!!

  12. Avatar Alison Rao says:

I attended the Bristol Vegan Food Tour on 24.09.16 and loved every minute! Our tour guide was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about food and the local area! I’ve lived in Bristol all my life but still discovered some fantastic new eateries and interesting stories about the city. We stopped at 9 places and were thoroughly spoilt with amazing food; sampling so many different cuisines! I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone and can’t wait to try a different tour! Thank you so much for an amazing day 🙂
