The Bull Shed & Shottle Farm Brewery

The Bull Shed is off the beaten track a couple of miles from Belper but it’s well signposted and well worth finding. That’s because the Bull Shed is a bit like a secret club – you can’t just turn up (something to do with planning regs) but you can text for a reservation. You then get a text back to say you’re in and, more importantly, telling you what your food choice is.

At the time of writing, Thursday night is pie night, and you can choose from a vast selection to suit all tastes; on Friday night it’s pizza; and Saturday is steak night.

On offer is home-cooked food at its best and eating here feels similar to going round to an old friend’s place for dinner, not having to make the effort to dress up, and eating exactly what you want, cooked the way you want it.

Shottle Farm Brewery is also at Handley Farm. They brew eight beers which, as you would expect, can also be found in the Bull Shed either on tap or in bottles. One of their most popular beers is called Fuddled Farmer. However, this farm is certainly not fuddled but absolutely spot on and it’s worth keeping the text reservation number (07877 723075) in your phone ready to us.

At the time of writing, the Bull Shed is open Thursday 6-10pm, Friday 6-10pm and Saturday 6-10pm. It is closed Sunday to Wednesday.

  1. Lainey potter says:
Best pies ever !!!We've visited a few times with our friends (4 of us) on 'pie night' and the pies are outstanding. The rustic setting of the "bull shed" adds to the experience and it certainly is that!! But a very nice one!! The food is exceptionally well cooked. Just how a pie (well usually about 6 different pies!!!) should be! The staff are all lovely and the bull shed is definitely worth visiting. On our next visit we will try the steaks... can't wait!! Well done to everyone for making this a special place!
