At home on Bristol’s vibrant Gloucester Road, The Gallimaufry is an independent bar and restaurant that goes out of its way to support all things local – from the art on the walls to the bands booked to play and, of course, the food and drink. Small seasonal menus make the most of ingredients and produce from the local area and the drinks range includes a rotation of locally brewed ales, plus coffee from Clifton Coffee Roasters just around the corner.
The Galli has a casual feel with bright colourful walls and a mix of seating including an upstairs dining area in front of the open kitchen hatch and a popular sun terrace running along the front of the bar, which gets very busy during the summer months.
We recommend heading to The Galli for its Sunday lunch if nothing else – it’s a city favourite of local celeb chef and Instagram star Elly Pear. Sunday lunch changes weekly and always includes a veggie option. Alongside roasts and throughout the rest of the week, it serves its signature ‘Galli’ plates – think big tapas, perfect for sharing. When we were last here we tried the bavette steak with mushrooms and it was just heavenly. Always seasonal and always delicious, these are the perfect excuse for staying in the pub for an extra drink and a quick supper.
If you enjoy live music, The Galli has a constant line-up of bands, DJs and open mic sessions too.
