The Red Lion at East Haddon
The Red Lion is a beautiful country pub in the small Northamptonshire village of East Haddon. Built in the county’s distinctive ironstone, this food-focused pub has three spacious dining areas, each with subdued modern decor.
The Red Lion won a Michelin Bib Gourmand (awarded to establishments that serve good food at reasonable prices) for the first time in 2012 and continues to hold this accolade.
The food here is very much in keeping with the location and feel of the pub – beautifully cooked, traditional, seasonal British classics, often with a twist. But there are also a few surprises.
Great Food Club’s reviewer said: “This must be one of the best dining experiences in the East Midlands. Expect superb flavours, well-presented, balanced portions and a warm and friendly welcome. The slow-cooked lamb, turnip gratin and buttered leeks was expertly cooked and presented, while the partridge with mashed potato and winter vegetables was a magnificent autumn dish.”
