The Senate Bar and Bistro
The Senate Bar & Bistro is a delightful place in the heart of Cambridge with views across to King’s College. It serves seasonal, locally sourced produce in a relaxed and friendly environment, and it is always worth a visit!
The food has a Mediterranean feel and follows the seasons. Breakfast might be crumpets and jam, or eggs Florentine. For luncheon, you could try a sandwich such as home-cooked treacle ham, cheddar and pickle, or possibly a sharing plate of cheese and charcuterie, or maybe smoked haddock and applewood fishcake served with a poached egg. If you want something bigger, how about wild mushrooms and shallot gnocchi with red pesto, wilted spinach and Parmesan? Still room? ‘The Senate Crumble’ (apple, pear and berry), perhaps…
The Senate Bar and Bistro also serves excellent coffee, and has a well-chosen wine list.
And we can highly recommend the Set Lunch and Pre-Theatre Menu, offering two courses for £14.50 and three for £17.50.
