The Sun Inn

The Sun Inn is a charming Everards pub in the picturesque village of Cottesmore, Rutland. From the outside, it looks like the quintessential English pub. With its whitewashed walls and thatched roof, it takes you back to a time when pubs were the centrepiece of every town and village. The same is true inside with the stone walls, wood beams, fireplace and classic oak furniture. There’s plenty of seating and lots of nooks and crannies, but also a well-furnished beer garden for those summer afternoons!

But this is a pub that successfully blends old-world country charm, with modern touches. As you’d expect from an Everards pub, there’s a great range of cask ales, premium lagers, craft beers and excellent wines. Food-wise, there are the pub classics such as pies, burgers or fish & chips; but also souvlaki, bean burger, baby-back ribs feature, as well as daily specials. On Sundays, there is a wide range of roasts available. All of the food is made from local seasonal produce and cooked on the premises.

As well as being bookable for events, The Sun Inn has regular music nights and considering it’s history, is no surprise. Apparently, rock royalty The Who were regulars here when their manager lived in nearby Exton. There’s a Rock Atlas blue plaque on the wall to acknowledge it too!
