The White Horse
The White Horse is proud to be a ‘proper’ village local and hub of the community – it was bought and beautifully rejuvenated by a local farmer after closing in 2012 following a campaign to save the village pub. And thank goodness it was saved – many villages have not been so lucky.
The food served here is well beyond the quality of many village locals and the White Horse finished in the top three of the Lincolnshire Life Taste of Excellence Awards for ‘Best Pub Food’ in 2015.
As you’d want and expect of a village local, the focus is on seasonal pub classics done well: dishes such as braised shin of beef, ‘Game of the Week’ and beer-battered fish. Freshly home-baked bread is available too, which is always a good sign.
The atmosphere at the White Horse is cosy, relaxed and welcoming, and there’s a decent range of cask ales and a good wine list. Baston’s population has a lot to be thankful for!
