Almost all of us will occasionally get a massive burger craving. It’s nature, I’m sure of it. There are plenty of places in Bristol to get a burger – in fact, plenty of places to get a good burger but really, for something special, you have to go to Three Brothers Burgers.
Find them on a boat (there’s a covered deck with seats, soft lights and patio heaters) moored up along Welsh Back right in the city centre, easily located at night thanks to the clever lighting in the trees around them. Start with a beer at Brewdog, have dinner at Three Brothers and then walk down King Street to a whole host of excellent pubs in which to finish your night.
The menu is short and focused. You can have burgers, fries and hotdogs. I think I spied a couple of salads too but who’s going to order those? Really, as the name suggests, it’s all about the burgers: made in-house using 28-day-aged Herefordshire beef, they are full of flavour and cooked perfectly with a hint of pink. Served in squishy brioche buns and with plenty of options to choose from (go for blue cheese!) it get’s pretty messy pretty quickly but embrace the dribble and just make sure you’ve got napkins to hand. The mess is worth every bite.
Portions are generous but even so you should order sides. The coleslaw is creamy and moreish and the fried pickles are great to share (or not). The batter is relatively light so once you’ve bitten through the crispy edge, the hot salty pickle hits your mouth. Perfect for cutting through the rich meaty, cheesy burger.
Three Brothers will sate even the biggest of burger cravings. And on that note, I’m off to find a burger.
