The White Swan

From the outside, The White Swan looks like a village pub. Inside it looks like an upmarket gastropub. But it’s when you sit down to eat here that you realise it’s a great restaurant serving really decent food. Chef-patron Rory McLean, who took over with partner Samantha in 2012, spent several years working with the likes of Angela Hartnett and Marcus Wareing at Michelin-starred restaurant in London, and it shows.

Their dishes are seasonal and their cooking excellent, with an array of ambitious menus from brunch to Sunday lunch; evening a la carte to tasting menus; plus the ‘Chef’s Table’. The food is complemented by an enthusiastic, helpful front-of-house team who clearly have the skill and experience to make this a winning pub.

The atmosphere is great, too. Casually refined with log-burning fires and a cosy snug, it’s a place where you can relax with a tipple or feel spoiled rotten on a special occasion. Keep an eye out for some of the wine-tasting events too!
